Mina’s Classic Mitts

Brrr! Is it getting chilly yet where you are? We’ve had our first freeze here in Kansas and I’m sure more are to come soon. I have to admit – I’m enjoying the cooler temps and am anxiously awaiting the beautiful colors of fall.

One of my favorite things about fall is dressing in layers and wearing all the cozy makes! Hats, scarves, headbands and especially – mittens! I don’t know about you, but I actually prefer mittens to traditional gloves. They’re so cozy, and just the thought of a mitten puts me into a winterish mood!

When designing these mittens, I wanted to choose a fibre that would not only keep me warm, but also hold up to heavy wear. I decided to use Premier Yarn’s Anti-Pilling. This fabulous yarn checked off all of my requirements:

  • Worsted weight and available in a huge range of colors
  • Soft and durable
  • Resists pilling
  • Machine washable
  • Budget friendly

That last one was the most important, and something I’ve struggled with when making mittens in the past. I wanted to design mittens that not only look great on day one, but also on day ten of wear, day thirty of wear, and so on! The cool thing about Premier Anti-Pilling is that it keeps looking new wash after wash. There are no pills to shave or pick off. Total win! If for some reason your mittens do form pills, just throw them in the washing machine and they’ll be gone!
This yarn made some great mittens, but I’m already dreaming of all the other projects I could make with this durable yarn! It would be perfect for blankets, scarves, and hats!
